Renault Mégane. 1995–2009 (prod. 5,000,000 approx., incl. Scénic). 4- and 5-door saloon, 2-door coupé, 5-door estate, 2-door convertible. F/F, 1390, 1598, 1998 cm³ petrol, 1870 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC), 1390, 1598, 1783, 1998 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Attractive C-segment range, related to 19 predecessor underneath the curvy skin. Spawned the very successful Renault Mégane Scénic I mini-MPV, which had 60 per cent of all Mégane sales at one point. Average dynamically, but sold extremely well; coupé was a top seller in its segment in some countries. Interior fine at launch, but appeared dull in the early 21st century. Facelift in 1999. European production to 2002, though Mégane I continued in South America till 2009, selling alongside II.
