2012 Renault Clio.jpg

Renault Clio. 2012 to date (prod. n/a). 5-door saloon, 5-door estate. F/F, 899 cm³ (I3 DOHC), 1149, 1198, 1618 cm³ (I4 DOHC), 1461 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC). Larger, more expressive Clio, on revised previous-generation platform, this time only a five-door, though with concealed rear door handles. Styling by Laurens van den Acker, formerly of Mazda. Three-cylinder turbo develops 90 PS, more than entry-level 1·1 with 75 PS; RS, built at Dieppe, with 200 PS from turbocharged 1·6. Good handling and steering feel but with understeer when pushed. Lighter than Clio 3, to the tune of 100 kg, so no effect on range despite smaller fuel tank.
