Renault 30. 1975–83 (prod. 136,403). 5-door saloon. F/F, 2068 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC), 2664 cm³ (V6 OHC). First postwar Renault with more than four cylinders, launching in March 1975 with the Peugeot–Renault–Volvo (PRV) joint-venture Douvrin V6. Flagship of Renault range, styled by Gaston Juchet. Spawned the Renault 20 at the end of 1975. Fuel-injected 30 TX in 1978 with more extras. Facelift in 1981, Turbo D from 1982. V6 particularly quick, but, like the 20, the car was nose-heavy, with 64 per cent of the weight at the front. Quiet and refined, with noise only intrusive close to 160 km/h. All-independent coil suspension, with double wishbones at front and single wishbones at rear, and anti-roll bar, contributing to a lack of body roll.

Manufacturing location: Sandouville, Haute-Normandie, France

Marque: Renault | Successor: Renault 25
