Renault 18. 1977–93 (prod. 2,028,964 in France; 132,956 in Argentina). 4-door saloon, 5-door estate. F/F, 1397, 1565, 1647 cm³ (4 cyl. OHV), 1995, 2165 cm³ petrol, 2068 cm³ diesel (4 cyl. OHC). Replacement for successful 12, production commencing December 1977 for 1978 sale. Tidy, well proportioned saloon, with attractive estate following in 1979. Good handling and reasonably lively; more so with 1981 launch of 18 Turbo saloon. European production to 1989, though Argentinian production continued to 1993, and included a more powerful 2·2-litre model toward the end of the run.
