Renault 11 (L42). 1981–96 (prod. 6,300,000 approx. incl. Renault 9). 5-door saloon. F/F, 1108, 1237, 1397, 1565 cm³ (I4 OHV), 1721 cm³ petrol, 1595 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC). Robert Opron-designed hatchback version of Renault 9, pitched slightly higher than the four-door. Slightly more adventurous styling with rear hatch, but much the same under the bonnet. Basis of Renault Encore in US. Mid-term facelift in 1986 and replaced in Europe in 1989 with the Renault 19; continued in Turkey to 1995 and Argentina to 1996.
