1966 Rambler Classic 770 Cross Country Wagon.jpg

Rambler Classic/IKA Rambler Classic. 1965–7 (prod. n/a). 2- and 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon, 2-door hardtop coupé, 2-door convertible. F/R, 199, 226, 232, 258 in³ (I6 OHV), 287, 327 in³ (V8 OHV). AMC spent a great deal on sheetmetal changes for the 1965 Classic, though doors, roof, and windshield carried over. Same platform as before, employing a torque tube with coil springs, with a Panhard rod. Visually distinct from Ambassador, which gained a new grille this year, shorter overall. IKA changed to the new body as well for 1965, but carried over the 226 in³ six; it continued with the Classic into 1967, though US production of the nameplate ceased with the conclusion of the 1966 model year.

Manufacturing locations: Kenosha, Wisconsin, USA; Córdoba, Argentina; Haren, Belgium

Marque: Rambler | Model: Rambler Classic | Predecessor: Rambler Classic (1963–4) | Successor: Rambler Rebel (1967)
