Pyeonghwa Motors (평화자동차, 平和自動車) or Peace Motors Corp., was set up in 1999 by the South Korean Unification Church. It entered into a JV with North Korean state-controlled Ryonbong in 2000, building models from Fiat under licence, and assembling Zhonghua, Toyota, JMC (Jiangling), and Ssangyong designs. An SUV resembling a Kia Sorento is also in the range. Not to be confused with Pyeong Hwa of South Korea, an automotive parts’ supplier.
