Proton Satria (C96/C97/C98/C99). 1995–2006 (prod. n/a). 3-door sedan. F/F, 1298. 1468, 1598, 1834 cm³ (I4 OHC), 1834 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Malaysian licensed version of the Mitsubishi Mirage (1991–5), but with new front-end styling (and, with a later revision, new rear-end styling, too). Name meant knight in Sanskrit. GTi model had Lotus—a Proton subsidiary at the time—work on it, creating a fairly credible entry in the hot-hatch market; R3 was one more notch above that. The rest of the range still had decent handling and good engines of Mitsubishi origin, though interiors could have been better.

Manufacturing locations: Pekan, Pahang, Malaysia; Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia

Marque: Proton | Model: Proton Satria | Successor: Proton Satria Neo
