Proton Saga. 1985–92 (prod. 100,000 approx. to 1989). 4- and 5-door sedan. F/F, 1298, 1468 cm³ (I4 OHC). Malaysia’s national car, based around the Mitsubishi Lancer Fiore (1983–7). Different front and rear ends, but at launch, still a current design. Not as well built as the original, and in export markets (predominantly the UK), sold on low price. Five-door was a Malaysian effort, with a unique rear-end, dubbed Saga Aeroback.

Manufacturing location: Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia
