Porsche Boxster (Typ 987). 2004–12 (prod. n/a). 2-door convertible. R/R, 2687, 2893, 3179, 3387, 3436 cm³ (F6 DOHC). Boxster revised, sharing only 20 per cent of components with predecessor. Front end altered to resemble Porsche Carrera GT more; hardtop Cayman introduced to complement it. Revised interior, and soft-top that can be operated at higher speeds (50 km/h). Engines upgraded during run with more power, with ride helped by active suspension. New direct injection engines and PDK seven-speed gearbox from 2009. Lightweight Spyder model (prod. 1,667) shown at LA in 2009 with 3·4 litre developing 235 kW.
