Porsche 928. 1978–95 (prod. 61,056). 3-door coupé. F/R, 4474, 4664 cm³ (V8 OHC), 4957, 5396 cm³ (V8 DOHC). Grand tourer, intended to be a new generation of Porsches to replace the iconic 911. At the time, thoroughly modern—even futuristic—and made the 911 look old hat, but the 911 proved irreplaceable and outlived the 928. First production Porsche with a V8. More refined and luxurious than earlier Porsches. Very capable, with strong acceleration; advanced rear suspension with what Porsche dubbed the Weissach link. S from 1980, with larger V8, with the original model ending production in 1982. S4 replaced S in 1987, with five-litre, 32-valve DOHC engine, and Cd of 0,34. GT from 1989, and all models replaced by GTS in 1992, with 5·4-litre V8.

Manufacturing location: Stuttgart, Germany
