Porsche 718 (Typ 982). 2016 to date (prod. n/a). 3-door coupé, 2-door convertible. M/R, 1988, 2497 cm³ (F4 DOHC). Porsche revives a designation from the 1950s and 1960s, originally applied to a racing model. The new 718 became the model name, with Cayman and Boxster the model designations for coupé and (a now more expensive) convertible. Turbo flat fours instead of the naturally aspirated flat six. S gets the larger engine. Economy quite good for the type of vehicle, and plenty of power and torque, but the engine note was less satisfying than the six’s. Excellent handling and road manners, and on these criteria, still considered a benchmark.

Manufacturing locations: Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany; Osnabrück, Niedersachsen, Germany

Marque: Porsche | Predecessors: Porsche Cayman (981c), Porsche Boxster (981)
