1997 Pontiac Trans Sport SE.jpg

Pontiac Trans Sport (U-body). 1997–8 (prod. n/a). 4-door MPV, 5-door LWB MPV. F/F, F/A, 3350 cm³ (V6 OHV). Fully revised U-bodies, with Pontiac offering a sportier (at least in appearance) version of the Chevrolet Venture and Oldsmobile Silhouette (1997–2004). V6 outdid the Chrysler minivans power-wise at launch, and handling more car-like. Excellent brakes, especially given the bulk. Dual airbags standard though the vans performed poorly in offset crash testing. Lots of harsh plastics inside, and the seats could be more comfortable. Montana appearance package, with cladding, alloy wheels, white-letter tyres, and traction control formed the bulk of sales, so much so that the Trans Sport became the Montana.

Manufacturing location: Doraville, Georgia, USA

Marque: Pontiac | Model: Pontiac Trans Sport | Predecessor: Pontiac Trans Sport (1990–6) | Successor: Pontiac Montana (1999–2005)
