1972 Pontiac Grand Ville 4-door hardtop sedan.jpg

Pontiac Grand Ville. 1971–5 (prod. 290,327 approx.). 4-door hardtop sedan, 2-door hardtop coupé, 2-door convertible. F/R, 400, 455 in³ (V8 OHV). Plusher Bonneville, as GM found that buyers were choosing to have more luxury. Same long 126 in wheelbase as Bonneville, with the addition of convertible, though the wheelbase was reduced to 124 in for 1973, then 123·4 in for the final year. Soft suspension with good ride. Interior materials were never as premium as the marketing suggested. Wagons were called Grand Safari. Eventually absorbed into the Bonneville range with sales falling after the fuel crisis.

Manufacturing location: Pontiac, Michigan, USA

Marque: Pontiac | Successor: Pontiac Bonneville (1971–6)

q.v. Pontiac Grand Safari (1971–6)
