1971 Plymouth Duster.jpg

Plymouth Duster (A-body). 1971–6 (prod. n/a). 2-door coupé. F/R, 198, 225 in³ (I6 OHV), 318, 340, 360 in³ (V8 OHV). Started in 1970 as the Plymouth Valiant Duster, but began 1971 with its own identity. Essentially a sporty, fastback version of the Plymouth Valiant (1967–73), and a hit for Plymouth. Identical up front to Valiant, following suit with 1973 design changes (for safety legislation) and a new grille for 1975. As with other A-bodies, mostly reliable, with good handling and roadholding, but poor rearward visibility. Dodge Demon was its corporate twin.

Manufacturing locations: Hamtramck, Michigan, USA; Commerce, California, USA; Fenton, Missouri, USA

Marque: Plymouth | Predecessor: Plymouth Valiant (1967–73) | Successor: Plymouth Volaré

q.v. Chrysler Valiant Charger
