Peugeot 508/Peugeot 508L (R83). 2018 to date (prod. n/a). 5-door saloon, 4-door LWB saloon, 5-door estate. F/F, F/A, 1499, 1997 cm³ diesel, 1598 cm³ petrol, 11·8 kWh–1598 cm³ electric–petrol hybrid (I4 DOHC). More aspirational 508, lower, shorter and wider than predecessor. Frameless doors give coupé appearance; rear hatch neatly integrated into fastback design. Carryover engines but otherwise new. I-cockpit system with customizable 12·3-inch central screen; 10-inch screen in front of driver. Light steering and not as engaging as more premium saloons. Chinese model, 508L, with 55 mm longer wheelbase, framed doors, and conventional boot. Plug-in hybrid from 2019.
