Peugeot 504 Coupé/Peugeot 504 Cabriolet. 1969–83 (prod. 31,163). 2-door coupé, 2-door convertible. F/R, 1796, 1971 cm³ (I4 OHV), 2664 cm³ (V6 OHC). Attractive counterparts to Peugeot’s tough 504 saloon range, but with more lithe, sporting looks, also by Pininfarina, on a 200 mm shorter wheelbase. Started with fuel-injected 1·8 developing 90 PS, all-round independent suspension. Two-litre engine from 1970, with 97 PS; automatic option from 1972. Peugeot–RenaultVolvo V6 from 1974, taking power to 136 PS, fuel injection in 1977 took it to 144 PS. Five-speed gearbox for V6 in 1977, aiding fuel economy, then for the two-litre four-cylinder in 1979.
