Peugeot 305.jpg

Peugeot 305. 1978–89 (prod. 1,740,300). 4-door saloon, 5-door estate. F/F, 1124, 1360, 1580, 1905 cm³ petrol, 1472, 1769, 1905 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC). The 305 was another intelligent, if understated, Peugeot that was more accomplished to drive than its boring styling would have you believe. A long wheelbase and relaxed springing meant it was a cruiser, not a sprinter, but it could hustle along deceptively quickly. The 1·3- and 1·5-litre engines were lively and economical, too. Like fine wine, the 305 improved with age—the estate version was huge with a clever and compact rear suspension layout, and the facelifted models of 1983 were boosted by GT model.

Manufacturing location: Sochaux, France

Marque: Peugeot | Predecessors: Peugeot 204, Peugeot 304 | Successor: Peugeot 405
