Peugeot 204 (D12). 1965–76 (prod. 1,604,296). 4-door saloon, 5-door estate, 3-door coupé, 2-door convertible. F/F, 1127, 1130 cm³ petrol, 1255, 1357 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC). Peugeot re-entered the 6 CV market, following up the 203. Front-wheel-drive range, with new XK engines, with gearbox and differential under the block. Clean Pininfarina styling, slightly wider than the norm in the mid-1960s. Regular changes through run. The two diesels were regarded as the smallest fitted to a production car at the time. Range reduced with the advent of the 304 in 1969, which was a development of the 204. Smaller XL petrol engine fitted in the final year of its run, from 1975.
