Panther Rio. 1975–7 (prod. 38 sold). 4-door saloon. F/R, 1854, 1998 cm³ (I4 OHC). Car “couturier” Robert Jankel of Panther Westwinds believed there was a market for a smaller-sized luxury saloon in the wake of the fuel crisis. Using the Triumph Dolomite (1972–80) as the basis, Panther built a saloon to an extremely high, limousine-like quality. Rio Especial was based around Triumph Dolomite Sprint. Extravagant price: the Especial cost nearly £2,000 more than the Jaguar XJ12.
Marque: Panther
