Opel Signum. 2003–8 (prod. n/a). 5-door saloon. F/F, 1796, 1998, 2198 cm³ petrol, 1910, 1995, 2184 cm³ diesel (4 cyl. DOHC), 1910 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC), 2792, 3195 cm³ petrol, 2958 cm³ diesel (V6 DOHC). Unusual stretched Vectra C, but with an upright hatchback body. Epsilon platform, related to the likes of Saturn Aura and Chevrolet Malibu (2004–8). Very comfortable at rear with two separate seats, though little of the overall length for luggage. Based around an Opel show car of the same name, and surprisingly close to the concept. The market segment Opel expected never materialized, though it allowed the company to avoid competing against German luxury brands. Dynamically, Signum was not that remarkable. Slightly better after 2005 facelift, but extra length made for poorer handling when compared with Vectra.

Manufacturing locations: Rüsselsheim, Germany

Marque: Opel | Predecessor: Opel Omega B | Successor: Opel Insignia
