Opel Insignia (G09). 2008–17 (prod. n/a). 4- and 5-door saloon, 5-door estate. F/F, F/A, 1364, 1598, 1796, 1998 cm³ petrol, 1598, 1956 cm³ diesel (I4 DOHC), 2792 cm³ (V6 DOHC). Replacement for Vectra is more expressive, with styling inspired by GTC show car. Far more competent dynamically with strong body rigidity; European Car of the Year 2008–9. Rear headroom a bit compromised due to coupé-like silhouette. Frontal camera recognizes traffic signs, a world first. Estate called Sport Tourer, not Caravan, as GM attempts to position it as a lifestyle vehicle and not a hold-all; crossover version dubbed Country Tourer. Sold as Vauxhall Insignia in UK; Buick Regal (2008–17) in China and North America; Holden Insignia in Australia and New Zealand toward the end of its run.

Manufacturing location: Rüsselsheim, Germany

Marque: Opel | Model: Opel Insignia | Predecessors: Opel Vectra C, Opel Signum | Successor: Opel Insignia B
