Opel Ascona (Projekt 1450). 1970–5 (prod. 691,438). 2- and 4-door saloon, 3-door estate. F/R, 1196 cm³ (I4 OHV), 1584, 1897 cm³ (I4 CIH). Mid-sizer fitting between Kadett and Rekord, débuting at Torino in 1970. Shared platform with the original Opel Manta A, with front independent coil springs and rigid rear axle controlled by trailing arms and Panhard rod. Estate called Voyage, aimed at a youthful, leisure market. Sporting S and SR versions featured 1·6 with 80 PS or 1·9 with 90 PS. Mid-term changes 1973; lower-end Caravan added in 1974.
