Oldsmobile Toronado

Initially an innovative grand tourer that saw the return of front-wheel drive to an American car since the prewar Cord. By the dawn of the 1970s, Toronado had retained its front drive, but it had morphed into a heavy, full-size personal–luxury car, with the emphasis on luxury, while downsizing at the end of the decade helped. However, by the mid-1980s it looked like any other Oldsmobile, and a restyle never helped it recover as Americans shifted to SUVs. Related to the Cadillac Eldorado and Buick Riviera.
