Oldsmobile Aurora. 2001–3 (prod. 71,722). 4-door sedan. F/F, 3473 cm³ (V6 DOHC), 3995 cm³ (V8 DOHC). Originally developed as an Eighty-Eight successor, Oldsmobile had to alter the model to become the second-generation Aurora after Buick decided to end production of its sister car, the Riviera. Now related to Buick LeSabre (2000–5) and Pontiac Bonneville (2000–5). Not as unique as original, but a competent, cohesive exterior design. Improved over the previous model, with V8 carried over, giving quick acceleration. Roomy interior. Load-levelling suspension, and GM’s OnStar system standard. V8s had traction control and anti-skid system. Hampered by a four-speed automatic while rivals had five. V6 for 2001 and 2002 only, vanishing during the 2002 model year. Navigation system introduced 2002. Final 500 Auroras had Collector Edition trim. No successor, with Oldsmobile brand phased out.

Manufacturing location: Lake Orion, Michigan, USA

Marque: Oldsmobile | Model: Oldsmobile Aurora | Predecessor: Oldsmobile Aurora (1995–9)
