Nissan Sunny/Nissan Tsuru (B12). 1985–90 (prod. n/a). 3-door hatchback, 4-door sedan, 3-door coupé, 5-door wagon. F/F, F/A, 1270, 1488, 1597 cm³ petrol, 1681 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC), 1598 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Nissan’s design chief ordered that straight lines were in—the opposite to what the prevailing trend was. Consequently, Nissan sales were down across the board and the B12 Sunny was not even exported to some countries where the shape was considered too boxy. (For those countries, the Pulsar was renamed the Sunny, principally in Europe.) The station wagon was about the most widely seen model, while the US and Mexico had their Sentra and Tsuru respectively. Technologically, the B12 was advanced, with 4WD and 4WS options (1987) and Nismo sporting models (1989).
