Nissan Silvia (日産 シルビア) (S13). 1988–93 (prod. 300,000 approx. sold in Japan). 2-door coupé, 2-door convertible. F/R, 1809, 1998, 2389 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Very clean, well proportioned coupé, and the generation that sold the most out of all the Silvias. New multi-link rear suspension, with four-wheel steering available. Well priced, beating Honda Prelude (BA4) on the home market, and finding favour among youth and female buyers. Plenty of power from engines (135 PS to 205 PS). Convertible by Autech from July 1988. Named Japanese Car of the Year by the end of 1988. Diamond Selection limited-edition with extra standard equipment 1990. Minor changes in 1991 with new engines and trim levels rejigged. Q’s² limited edition in 1992 to commemorate Nissan’s production of 40 million passenger vehicles. Minor changes to the end of run. Domestic sales ended 1993. Exports included 240SX coupé (Silvia with 180SX grille, to comply with headlight regulations) for North America, with both coupé and convertible versions.
