Nissan begins its more squarish styling theme for the turn of the decade. Much smarter than clumsy predecessor; opera window on notchback coupé a concession to US design fashion. Good performance from the fuel-injected two-litre, and now on much better Nissan Stanza (A10) platform with struts at front and four-link coils at rear. Spun off a more luxurious Gazelle variant, sold through a separate dealer network in Japan. Launched March 1979, liftback from August 1979, and respectable competition history. Turbo from 1981, DOHC from 1982, including homologation special with 2·4. Exported as 180SX and 200SX.
Marque: Nissan | Model: Nissan Silvia | Predecessor: Nissan Silvia (S10) | Successor: Nissan Silvia (S12)
