Nissan Primera (P10). 1989–95 (prod. 278,000 from 1989 to 1991 at Sunderland). 4- and 5-door sedan. F/F, F/A, 1595, 1838, 1998 cm³ petrol (I4 DOHC), 1973 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC). Tidy, nice handling mid-sized car from Nissan, with European-friendly styling. Dual manufacture in Japan and England for sedan and liftback; wagon (W10) Japan only (where it was the Avenir). Replacement for Nissan Auster. Diesel model available as normally aspirated and turbocharged, the former popular with some UK taxi drivers. Four-wheel-drive and turbo models in Japan. Liftbacks exported back to Japan as specialty models (badged Primera U.K.); also exported to Ireland. Sedan exported to US and Canada as Infiniti G20 (HP10 series).
