Originally a conservative coupé replacing the fastback NX, Nissan expanded the Lucino line in 1995 to include two hatchbacks from the Pulsar line, but with minor trim differences. Usual Japanese virtues of dependability but without much inspiration, though Nissan did come up with a few sporting editions, including a potent but rare VZ-R hatchback with 200 hp, to liven things up. Not directly replaced as Nissan found itself in financial trouble and Japanese buyer preferences changed.
