Still officially Prince Gloria as far as manufacturing records were concerned (it was developed as the Prince S6), the third-generation model was marketed as a Nissan for the first time. American-inspired styling with stacked headlights, apeing contemporary Pontiacs and Cadillacs, as well as the Nissan Prince Royal made for the Japanese Imperial family, though no parts were shared. Nicknamed タテグロ (vertical Glo’) or 縦目グロリア (vertical Gloria) because of the frontal design. Now a monocoque, following Prince’s development with the Skyline. Optional disc brakes. Rear suspension downgraded from de Dion axle to solid rear axle with leaf springs. Standard models with four-cylinder 2·0; deluxe with Prince G-7 1988 cm³ six, equipped with automatic transmission. Minor changes in 1968, Nissan six from November 1969, well equipped GL with power steering added 1970.
