1981 Nissan Auster JX.jpg

Nissan Auster JX. 1981–5 (prod. n/a). 3, 4- and 5-door sedan. F/F, 1598, 1809 cm³ (I4 OHC). Smart-looking, inoffensive mid-sized range from Nissan, with front-wheel drive. JX tag supposedly stood for Jump X, though one journalist asked whether the J had anything to do with General Motors’ J-car, with the similarities between the Auster liftback and the Opel Ascona C. By the middle of the model run, JX went into very small type on brochures, and was absent from the badging. Mid-term facelift made Auster look boxier, as was the direction at Nissan at the time.

Manufacturing location: Japan

Marque: Nissan | Model: Nissan Auster | Predecessor: Nissan Auster (A10) | Successor: Nissan Auster (T12)

q.v. Nissan Violet Liberta, Nissan Stanza FX
