Another variant of the Nissan Violet, originally starting off as a premium trim level before being spun off, in its second year, into its own model line. With Violet and Stanza going front-drive, Auster followed suit in 1981. A final change for 1985 saw Auster go on to the larger Bluebird platform, sharing components with that model. (It evolved into the UK-built Nissan Bluebird (T72).) Always fairly well made, but unadventurous.
