Morris Minor (MM). 1948–53 (prod. 250,962). 2- and 4-door saloon, 2-door convertible. F/R, 918 cm³ (I4 SV). Postwar small car designed by Alec Issigonis, reviving Minor name. Widened from prototype by 4 in, with painted section on bumpers and creases on bonnet as evidence of this. Top speed of 64 mph, but fuel economy was up to 40 mpg (Imperial). Very popular, with nearly a third being the convertible, though never marketed as much as it should by Morris, whose management was never that enamoured with the vehicle. Headlights mounted in grille except for US models, which had them shifted higher on the front wings; this became standard in 1951 for all MMs.
