Mitsubishi Space Star. 1998–2005 (prod. 275,769). 5-door MPV. F/F, 1299, 1597 cm³ petrol, 1870 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC), 1834 cm³ DOHC (I4 DOHC). Small MPV based on Mitsubishi Carisma platform, shared with Volvo S40. Minor facelift in 2002. Not offered in Japan; Space Star was the RVR replacement for Europe. Sold briefly in New Zealand as Mirage, when Mitsubishi lacked a hatchback in the C segment. Smallest engine on the sluggish side. Three-star NCAP rating for occupants; two stars for pedestrians.
