Mitsubishi Mirage (C51A/C52A/C53A/C61A/C62A/C63A/C64A/ C72A/C73A/C74A/C82A/C83A). 1987–91 (prod. n/a). 3- and 4-door sedan. F/F, 1198, 1298, 1468, 1597, 1755 cm³ petrol, 1795 cm³ diesel (4 cyl. OHC), 1597, 1836 cm³ (4 cyl. DOHC). Mitsubishi set its own design direction with third-generation Mirage, apeing the larger Galant. Designed by Masaru Furukawa and engineered by Yasukichi Akamatsu. Three-door hatchback the basic model, complemented by four-door (from January 1988) that was identical to Lancer. Considered stylish in its day, distinct from jelly-mould looks of similar cars. Few changes through run. Good ride and performance, especially from hot-hatch DOHC models.

Manufacturing locations: Okazaki, Aichi, Japan; Normal, Illinois, USA

Marque: Mitsubishi | Model: Mitsubishi Mirage | Predecessor: Mitsubishi Mirage (1983–7) | Successor: Mitsubishi Mirage (1991–5)
