2000 Mitsubishi Magna.jpg

Mitsubishi Magna (TE/TF/TH/TJ/TL/TW). 1996–2005 (prod. n/a). 4-door hardtop sedan, 5-door wagon. F/F, F/A, 2351 cm³ (I4 OHC), 2972, 3497 cm³ (V6 OHC). Longer, third-generation Magna, but with imported four-cylinder engine at base, complemented by three-litre V6. Four deleted in 1999, with larger V6 then becoming an option. Like the Diamante, a quiet, refined car, if not as roomy as it could have been due to its shared wheelbase with its predecessor. Most aerodynamic Australian-made sedan at the time (Cd 0,28). Changes mirrored those of Diamante, but OHC engines stayed through the Magna’s run, while Quadtec four-wheel drive was introduced in 2002, making it Australia’s first mass-produced four-wheel-drive passenger car line. Olivier Boulay-directed TL facelift in 2003 lengthened the car further; TW was a minor revision to this in 2004.
