1977 Mitsubishi Lancer 1600.jpg

Mitsubishi Lancer (A70/A140/LA/LB). 1973–85 (prod. n/a). 2- and 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon. F/R, 1187 cm³ (I4 OHV), 1238, 1244, 1410, 1439, 1597, 1995 cm³ (I4 OHC). Smaller car to complement Galant. Major facelift in 1976, modernizing front and rear ends. Sold under a variety of names, including Colt Lancer, Chrysler Valiant Lancer, Dodge Colt, Dodge Lancer, and Plymouth Colt. Stiff suspension allowed for good handling, but ride fairly harsh; interior was not the most commodious and some components plasticky. Quite noisy compared with Japanese rivals. Sedans replaced in 1979 with EX launch. Wagon from 1973, but, as utilitarian Lancer Van, not replaced in Japan till 1985.

Manufacturing location: Japan

Marque: Mitsubishi | Model: Mitsubishi Lancer | Predecessor: Mitsubishi Colt (1965–9) | Successors: Mitsubishi Lancer EX, Mitsubishi Lancer Wagon (1985–91)

q.v. Mitsubishi Lancer Celeste
