Mitsubishi Galant (E50). 1992–6 (prod. n/a). 4- and 5-door sedan. F/F, F/A, 1829 cm³ (V6 OHC), 1834, 1997, 2351 cm³ petrol, 1998 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC), 1834, 2351 cm³ (I4 DOHC), 1999, 2497 cm³ (V6 DOHC). Longer, larger Galant, losing the tall shape of predecessor. Still topped by VR-4, this time a 2·0-litre twin turbo DOHC sedan. RV five-door from 1994, exported as liftback version of Galant; on home market with roof racks and other accessories, to challenge the Subaru Legacy (BD) station wagon. Lacking character but competent when it came to ride and handling; slightly poorer on refinement. US models had 2·4-litre four. Platform used on various Chrysler models.
