Mitsubishi Debonair (A30/A31/C-A32/E-A33). 1964–86 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan. F/R, 1991 cm³ (I6 OHV), 1994 cm³ (I6 OHC), 2555 cm³ (I4 OHC). Mitsubishi’s flagship sedan and a considerable step up from its regular fare when announced at the 1963 Tokyo show; its design (styled largely by ex-GM designer Hans S. Bretzner) aped large US sedans of the time. Developed after the prospect of licensed manufacture of the Fiat 1500L, 1800, 2100, 2300 fell through. Automatic from 1965. A31 from 1970, when OHC six replaced the original OHV unit, and dubbed Debonair Executive. Front quarter-vents removed, new taillight design and front indicators moved in 1973. Debonair Executive SE (C-A32) from 1976, with the G54B 2·6 four becoming the main engine. Emissions’ regulation changes saw to E-A33 model code in 1978. ABS from 1979. Rarely sold to everyday customers, with a high price.
