1970 Mercury Meteor Montcalm.jpg

Mercury Meteor Rideau/Mercury Meteor Rideau 500/Mercury Meteor Montcalm/Mercury Meteor Montcalm S33/Mercury Meteor LeMoyne. 1969–72 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan, 2-door hardtop coupé, 4-door hardtop sedan, 2-door convertible, 5-door wagon. F/R, 240 in³ (I6 OHV), 302, 351, 390, 429 in³ (V8 OHV). The unique-to-Canada Meteor line began the 1969 model year with dual badging: Mercury badges began appearing on the cars and that year’s brochure had a big Lincoln–Mercury badge on the cover. The models were still present: Rideau, Rideau 500 and Montcalm at the bottom end, all with the six as standard; S33 and LeMoyne at the top with the V8 as the base engine. Wagons on 121 in wheelbase, other models on 124 in. Essentially the mid-priced full-size line slotting between Ford and Mercury, with 15 models in 1969; Monterey not offered in Canada. Sixes were gone in 1970 with the 302 being the standard engine for Rideau and Rideau 500; 351 for the rest. Final year for the convertible in 1970, same as south of the border. S33 and LeMoyne ended their run for 1970; by 1972, there were eight models, with the 351 as standard. Final year for base Rideau in 1972.
