1984 Mercury Marquis Wagon.jpg

Mercury Marquis (Fox). 1983–6 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon. F/R, 2302 cm³ (V6 OHC), 3273 cm³ (I6 OHV), 3797 cm³ (V6 OHV), 4942 cm³ (V8 OHV). Mirroring developments with the Fox-based Ford Fairmont, which took the full-size LTD name in 1983, Mercury’s Zephyr became the Marquis. Considered mid-size by this point, even though in the 1970s the platform was thought of as compact. No four-cylinder option for wagons, while largest V8 was for Canada only. Last Marquis, as Panther-based models became the Grand Marquis in 1983.

Manufacturing locations: Chicago, Illinois, USA; Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Marque: Mercury | Model: Mercury Marquis | Predecessors: Mercury Zephyr, Mercury Cougar (1980–2) | Successor: Mercury Sable (1986–91)
