Mercury Cougar. 1987–8 (prod. 219,648). 2-door coupé. F/R, 3797 cm³ (V6 OHV), 4942 cm³ (V8 OHV). Reskin for aero-look Cougar, with lower C_d, dropping from 0,40 to 0,36. Four-cylinder dropped, Mercury saying that it was not in keeping with the Cougar’s image. Anniversary model for 1987. Final year for this shape, 1988, largely a carryover of 1987, though XR7 had colour-keyed features. Incredibly popular for Mercury, especially as GM went front-drive with its intermediate coupés.
