Mercury Comet. 1971–7 (prod. n/a). 2- and 4-door sedan. F/R, 170, 200, 250 in³ (6 cyl. OHV), 302 in³ (V8 OHV). Plusher version of Ford Maverick (1971–7), taking the nameplate from Mercury’s earlier Ford Falcon twin. Generally dull, reliable compact with higher trim. Sporting model called Comet GT, offered till end of 1975 model year.
