Mercury Capri. 1979–86 (prod. n/a). 3-door coupé. F/R, 2302 cm³ (I4 OHC), 2792, 3797 cm³ (V6 OHV), 3273 cm³ (I6 OHV), 4186, 4942 cm³ (V8 OHV). Mercury gets a pony car again, based on the Fox-platform Mustang but with an upright nose. Took over from imported Ford Capri II, which had been sold through Lincoln–Mercury dealers in the US. Bubbleback added in 1983, distinguishing it from Mustang, but mechanically identical. Changes mirrored those of the Mustang.
