2006 Mazda Tribute.jpg

Mazda Tribute (J14/U0/CZ). 2000–10 (prod. n/a). 5-door SUV. F/A, 1988, 2261 cm³ (I4 DOHC), 2967 cm³ (V6 DOHC). Twin to Ford Escape (2000–6), based around Mazda Capella (GF) platform. Mazda’s first SUV in this segment, replacing a rebadged Suzuki sold as part of an OEM deal. Competent, with limited off-road capability and poor refinement, but a hit for Mazda. Major refresh in 2006 for most markets; US introduced a less sophisticated replacement for the 2008 model year twinned with the Ford Escape (2008–12) and Mercury Mariner (2008–11) there.

Manufacturing locations: Hōfu, Yamaguchi, Japan; Claycomo, Missouri, USA; Rayong, Thailand; Santa Rosa, Laguna, Philippines; Jhongli City, Taiwan, Rep. of China

Marque: Mazda | Model: Mazda Tribute | Predecessors: Suzuki Escudo (1997–2015), Mazda Navajo | Successors: Mazda Tribute (2008–11), Mazda CX-5 (KE)
