Mazda Savanna RX-7 (P747/FC3S/FC). 1985–92 (prod. 272,027). 3-door coupé, 2-door convertible. F/R, 2 × 654 cm³ Wankel. Larger, rounder RX-7, inspired by the Porsche 944 and targeting the US market. More refined, and more of a grand tourer; oversteer issues of predecessor sorted. Rear suspension now a multi-link semi-trailing arm. Available with rotary engine in various states of tune, with and without turbochargers, from 112 kW to 160 kW. Japanese market only had turbo models, 136 kW and up. Convertible from 1987. Mid-term changes 1989. Coupé production ended 1991, with the last convertibles 1992.
