Mazda Savanna (X808/S102/S124). 1971–8 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon, 2-door coupé. F/R, 2 × 491 cm³, 2 × 573 cm³ Wankel. Famed Wankel-powered Mazda, sharing basis with Grand Familia. Four-light grille replaced Grand Familia’s two lights. Initially sedan and coupé in 1971, with wagon added 1972. Highly successful competition history, in Japan and overseas, winning in its début season at the Fuji 500. Revised to S124 series in 1973, with improvements in emissions. Exported as RX-3.
