Mazda’s practical supermini, replacing the Revue, and initially twinned with the Ford Festiva Mini Wagon. The boxy shape proved a hit with buyers, and was smoothed out for a second-generation model in 2002. A more sporting, four-light body appeared for the third generation, and Mazda’s flowing kodo design language hit the fourth generation, which was twinned with the Scion iA in North America. The first-generation model was exported as the Mazda 121, but successive models were badged Mazda 2.
