1997 Mazda Capella.jpg

Mazda Capella (GF/GW). 1997–2002 (prod. unknown). 4- and 5-door sedan, 5-door wagon. F/F, F/A, 1840, 1991 cm³ (4 cyl. DOHC), 1998 cm³ diesel (4 cyl. OHC), 2497 cm³ (V6 DOHC). Last Capella, twinned with Ford Telstar (GF). Very evolutionary changes, with Mazda reacting to the excesses of the early 1990s. Safe, bread-and-butter transportation. Platform from Cronos adapted, but without exceeding the class 5 (1,700 mm width) tax bracket in Japan; consequently, narrower than GE. Five-door for export. Minor changes in 1999, when diesel dropped from home-market range. More sporting models from 2000.

Manufacturing location: Hiroshima, Japan

Marque: Mazda | Model: Mazda Capella | Predecessors: Mazda Capella (CG), Mazda Cronos, Efini MS-6, Mazda Capella (GV), Autozam Clef | Successor: Mazda Atenza (GG)
